Located in Hammersmith in west London, the hotel is just a few meters away from Hammersmith tube station, which means it means it offers easy access to most of London’s tourist attractions.
How are the rooms at the Novotel London West?
Our family (two children and two adults) stayed in a superior room, with a queen size bed and a sofa bed. The room, approximately 7m2, was big enough for a short stay. It had plenty of space to move around, with a clear path to the beds and the window, plus a desk to work on if necessary.
The bathroom was compact but functional, equally acceptable for a short stay. It had a bathtub but was not the type to relax in.
The hotel claimed to have “modern decor”, which might be true if textured walls had come back into fashion.
The queen bed, while not amazing, was comfortable, firm and large enough. The sofa bed was a different story; we wouldn’t recommend it for more than a few nights as it doesn’t offer any lumbar support.
The sound treatment in the room was good as we didn’t hear any outside noise, either from the street or neighbouring rooms.
How was the room hygiene?
The sheets were clean, though not ironed; the room was free of dust but the carpet was heavily stained, to the point to make me question if I should be walking around barefoot.
How are the hotel facilities?
The gym was really good, a common feature in Accor hotels. Novotel London West has two restaurants and one bar. I only used the bar where I had a mediocre cappuccino, but the atmosphere in the Mirrors Bar and the Artisan restaurant was pleasant.
The hotel has parking and valet parking, which is an excellent perk for London where parking is difficult and expensive.
How was the service?
We only stayed one night, so we couldn’t rate the hotel’s services extensively, especially important services like daily housekeeping and breakfast, but overall the service was adequate. The hotel staff were friendly, the check-in was quick and simple and the bar service was pleasant as well.
Would we recommend Novotel London West?
Unfortunately not. Mainly because, in our opinion, it was not a four-star hotel that still charged four-star rates.
The overall experience for one night was not bad. We had an event at the nearby Natural History Museum and it made sense for us to stay there.
We rate the Novotel London West 2 out of 5.
We would not recommend this hotel to tourists as there are better options closer to central London for a similar price.
